•树冠圆球形，冠形发育良好。标准株分枝力平均3.7个，少数甚至多达9个，树冠非常紧密；春梢平均长度20.6cm，节数平均7.3节/梢；腋芽数平均48.9枚/梢，其中4芽和5芽叠生常见。叶片墨绿色，革质，有光泽；长椭圆状披针形，叶长平均10.7cm，叶宽平均3.1cm，长宽比约3.5；叶面较平整，叶缘微波曲、稍反卷；基本全缘、偶先端有粗稀锯齿；侧脉7-9对，侧、网脉两面均明显；叶尖短尖至长尖；叶基狭楔形，部分与叶柄相连；叶柄黄绿色，平均长1.1cm。

•‘堰红桂’开花年龄很早，多为2-3年生即进入始花期；一般4年生后即进入盛花期。在成都地区，每年初花期为9月中旬至10月上旬；花冠近平展，裂片椭圆形；花色橙红，国际色卡编号为28A；花香较浓，花量极多，盛花时段常见树梢挂满一团团艳红色花球，少见墨绿色叶片。

•发现于成都市新都地区龙藏寺保存生长有模式标本母树。
•It was found in Longzang Temple, Xindu area, Chengdu City.

•树龄近200年生，至今生长开花正常。幼年耐阴，成年喜光照。栽培园艺品种，供观赏。
