•乔木或小乔木，高可达11 m ；树冠椭圆形至近圆球形。树皮深灰褐色或略带红晕，皮孔密，不间断纵裂。分枝密集。叶长椭圆形至椭圆状披针形，长8~14cm，宽3~4cm;叶面较平整，有光泽；基部阔楔形；先端渐尖至短尖；叶缘不规则波状，全缘或先端有疏锯齿；侧脉11~13对，网脉明显。叶柄长7~10mm，黄绿色。
•Tree or small tree to 11 m ; crown ellipsbid to nearly spheroidal ; bark dark grey brown or with slightly red tinge . Leaves narrowly elliptic to elliptic lanceolate ,8-14 cm x 3-4 cm , smooth , lustrous , base broadly cuneate , apex acuminate to acute , margin irregular undulate , entire or sparsely serrate near apex , secondary veins 11-13 pairs , reticulate veins obvious ; petioles 7-10 mm long , yellow green.

Flower
•每节叶腋内叠生花芽2对；每花序有花7~9朵；着花繁密。花梗黄绿色，长5~7mm。花色深，橙红色（ RHS - CC N25A~25B)。花冠斜展，阔钟形，直径约8~9mm；花萼大，齿裂浅；花冠裂片肥厚，倒卵圆形，长约3.5 mm ，宽约2.5 mm ；雄蕊2；雌蕊完全败育。花期9月下旬至10月上旬。
•Flower buds 2 pairs per node , each producing 7-9 flowers , blossom dense ; pedicels yellow green ,5-7 mm long ; corolla inclined , broad campanulate , orange red ( RHS - CC N25A-25B);8-9 mm diameter ; corolla lobes thick , obovate ,3.5 mm x 2.5 mm ; stamens 2; pistil abortive . Blooming in late September to early October .

•产湖北咸宁、武汉。浙江杭州；河南南阳、内乡、潢川、舞阳有栽培
•Xianning 、Wuhan , Hubei ; Hangzhou , Zhejiang ；Nanyang 、 Neixiang 、 Huangchuan 、 Wuyang , Henan.
