•灌木或小乔木，高可达5 m; 幼树树冠椭圆形，树皮灰白色。长势中等。分枝较密，直立性强，幼枝紫红色，密生皮孔。叶二型：春叶宽椭圆形或近圆形，长7～8cm, 宽4～5.5 cm, 革质，质地硬；基部圆形；先端突尖；全缘。秋叶卵形或卵状椭圆形，深绿色， 长(5)7～12cm, 宽3～4.5cm; 长宽比约2.3(2.1～2.7);叶面微皱褶，略内折呈“V”形； 先端渐尖或短渐尖；基部圆形或宽楔形；叶缘有细锯齿；侧脉6～8(10)对，上面明显下陷， 下面隆起；叶柄粗壮，长5～8(10)mm。 新梢和嫩叶紫红色。

•每节有花芽2～3对叠生；圆锥花序的总梗粗壮，长0.5～5 cm, 常紫红色，密生黄 白色的突起皮孔；花梗长1～1.5(4)cm。 香味浓郁。花大型，花冠阔钟形，直径达1～2.5 (3)cm, 尤其在花序中花朵较少时花朵较大；花色乳白或变淡黄白色 (RHS-CC1B～2B),秋冬季花色较深，常为乳黄色 (RHS-CC4B～6B),冬季花略带橙色。花冠深裂，具4裂片，稀3或5裂片，常见重瓣现象，花冠2～3轮；花冠裂片常内扣，肉质且肥厚，卵圆形，长4～5(9)mm, 宽3 . 5～5(8)mm, 略呈舟状；雄蕊2,偶3～4;雌蕊完全败育，呈花瓣状或 绿叶状，花后可成小叶或发育成小枝。盛花期：秋季9～11月和春季3～5月，冬季在室 内可开花，夏季有少量花开。
•Flower buds 2-3 pairs per node; peduncle stout,0.5-5 cm long,usually purple-reddish, spreading with dense yellow white lenticels; pedicels 1- 1.5(4)cm;corolla broad campanulate,1-2.5(3) cm diameter, cream white or slight yellow white(RHS-CC 1B-2B); in autumn or winter usually cream yellow (RHS-CC 4B-6B),orange in winter; corolla lobes 4,rarely 3 or 5,insisted, corolla lobes often doubled, thick, ovate,ca.4-5(9)mm ×3.5-5(8)mm; stamens 2,rarely 3-4; pistils abortive,petal-like or leaf-like, often become leaves or branchlets after blooming. Blooming in September to November,and March to May next year.

•产浙江金华。现扩大栽培至江苏、上海、安徽、山东以及湖北等许多省(区)。
•Origin in Jinhua, Zhejiang. Now cultivated in Jiangsu; Shanghai;Anhui; Shandong;Hubei etc.
