•灌木，高1.5～3m; 树冠椭圆形；分枝较稀疏，直立性强；长势旺盛。树皮灰白色。叶二型：春叶倒卵状披针形或倒卵状椭圆形，长6.5～8(12)cm, 宽2～3 . 5(4)cm, 长 宽比约2.4～2.9;最宽处常在中部以上；叶面较平展；基部楔形；先端突尖或短渐尖；全缘，有时中上部有锐短锯齿。秋叶椭圆状披针形或长圆形，长(6)8～12cm, 宽2.5～3.5cm, 先端长渐尖，侧脉5～7对，网脉明显；叶柄长7～10mm。新梢及嫩叶紫红色。

Flower
•花枝长10～20cm, 每节有花芽1～2对；圆锥花序总梗发达，长达2～4 cm, 黄绿色或略带淡紫红；苞片卵形，长3～5mm。 圆锥花序中有花15～20朵，聚伞花序有花(3) 5～10朵；花梗长短不一 ，长4～11 mm, 黄绿色，芳香，有时基部略显紫红。花白色至淡黄白色 (RHS-CC1～2D); 深秋及冬季花色稍深，可呈黄白色 (RHS-CC4D)。花冠斜展，多呈钟形甚至狭钟形，有时略平展，直径5～6(8)mm; 裂片较狭长，长圆形，长约3.5～4mm, 宽约2mm。 内侧常有黄晕；雄蕊2;雌蕊完全退化，不结实。花期：每年 9月至翌年4～5月，夏季开花较少。
•Flower twigs 10-20 cm long, flower buds 1-2 pairs per node, peduncle in panicle, 2-4 cm long,yellowish green or with light purple red; bract ovate, 3-5 mm long; flowers 15-20 in panicle and (3)5- 10 in cyme, pedicles short or long,4- 11 mm, yellowish green, sometimes base light purple red; corolla inclined,usually campanulate to narrow campanulate or slightly flat, white to light yellow white (RHS-CC 1-2D), deep colored in late autumn and winter, to yellowish white (RHS-CC 4D);5-6(8)mm diameter; corolla lobes fairy slender, long elliptic,3.5-4mm×2 mm, usually with yellow tint inner side; stamens 2; pistils abortive. Blooming in September to last April-May, with sparse flowers in summer.

Distribution
•原产四川苍溪、温江等县，现江苏、安徽、河南、浙江、山东、北京等地均有栽培，北方常见盆栽。
•Origin in Cangxi and Wenjiang county,Sichuan. Introduced now:Jiangsu、Anhui、Henan、Zhejiang、Shandong、Beijing(in pot).

Remark
•春叶较狭长，且最宽处在中部以上，多呈倒卵状披针形，叶面较平，花梗长短不一，花朵较小，钟形至狭钟形，花冠裂片长圆形。
