•小乔木或灌木状，树体较矮； 幼树树冠呈椭圆形，成年树冠圆 球形。树干灰色，成年树干上常 有明显的纵裂缝，20～80mm 长 短不等。长势较弱至中等。叶长 圆形或卵状长圆形，稀椭圆状披 针形，长8～11cm, 宽3～ 4cm,对下凹。叶柄 长 约 9 ～ 1 2mm, 细弯，基部略 带紫红色。新叶红色。
•Small tree or shrub, crown ellipsoid in young and spheroidal in maturity; weak to medium vigorous; trunk grey, with obvious 20-80 mm long longitudinal furrows.Leaves oblong or ovate-oblong,rarely elliptic-lanceolate,8- 11 cm×3-4 cm,with the broadest part below the middle, folded into V-form,lustrous, base rounded, seldom broad cuneate,apex nearly acute or acuminate,often bending down, margin entire, rarely serrate apex(more serrate in young trees and shoots), secondary veins 6-8 pairs,engraved; petioles9- 12 mm long,slender and bend, base purple red;young leaves red.

Flower
•花枝较短，每节通常有叠生花芽2～3对，每花序有花(5)7～9朵，多可达15朵。花梗长8～11mm。 花黄白色至乳黄色(RHS-CC3B～4A), 芳香。花冠斜展或偶近于平展，直径6～8mm, 偶有重瓣现象，裂片肥厚，宽椭圆形或倒卵圆形， 长3～3.5 mm, 宽2.5～3 mm, 多少内扣状；雌蕊完全败育。每年开花2～3次，花期9 月下旬至10月中旬。
•Flower twigs short; flower buds 2-3 pairsper node each with (5)7-9 flowers, some reach to15,strong scented; pedicels 8- 11 mm long; corollainclined, or nearly spreading,yellow white to creamyellow(RHS-CC 3B-4A),6-8 mm diameter, seldomin double corolla ; corolla lobes thick, broad ellipticto obovate 3-3.5 mm×2.5-3 mm,lightly incurved;pistil abortive.Blooming 2-3 times a year, first in lateSeptember and in early to middle October.

Distribution
•产江苏苏州(光福)、苏州桂花公园、南京，浙江杭州，河南南阳和潢川，安徽黄山 等地有栽培。晚银桂是苏州光福地区的传统品种，俗称为“晚黄”,多大树，约占总株数的 60%左右。晚银桂开花集中，花朵密集，颜色鲜艳，香味浓郁，花的质量好，经济价值高。

Remark
•成年树干有显著的纵裂缝；叶尖近突尖，花朵较小，直径6～8mm, 黄白 色至乳黄色，裂片肥厚、圆阔。
